Outstanding BBQ place for quick lunch
I'm not too hyped on bbq these days, but this place is nice. The food is tasty, there's great beer and the staff are pleasant to be around. Definitely recommend
Great food, great beer. We stopped in last summer for lunch with the kids and they enjoyed a board game to keep them busy. Looking forward to our next visit.
Large portions, tender-tasty meat and quick service! Side of Mac n cheese was super yum! Great place to eat after Manhattan Project tours!
We had the Tri Tip Sandwich and side salads. The Tri Tip was delicious and tried several on the sauces loved the Kentucky BBQ sauce. The side salad were hugh. Great prices lots of food.
Can't believe I've not done this already, I was one of the first through the door. Fantastic place with fantastic people and of course fantastic food and ale. The sandwiches and chilli are the best in town. Thanks to all at Shrub Steppe for years of friendship, and beer.😎
Great food great beer. Try the pulled pork and the beer sampler.
Best brisket I've had in Avery long time
The food and beer was awesome.
Always a great place to stop in for a quick drink, great food and customer service!
Food was really good. Waitresses seemed over whelmed and timid.
The BBQ is awesome along with the large selection of sauces. Staff was friendly and interactive. Tasty beer too!
service non-existent, even on a weekday. Brisket was so overdone and dry I couldn't even swallow it. Meager beer selection. This business wont last long. Hard to believe crap like this exists.
Amazing. Great service. Best pulled pork sandwich I have had. Awesome awesome joint
Not so good. I ordered the brisket with the side of macaroni and cheese. First off the brisket was dry and over cooked. The macaroni and cheese appeared in a styrofoam cup stuck to the side just about to get dry so you knew it had been dished up earlier and kept warm. The BBQ sauce was missing sweetness and left me disappointed. I was able to cut the brisket with the plastic knife but a true brisket done right would never require a knife. I did not eat most of my food here. If you like good BBQ I would recommend Baby J's in Richland to hit the spot but unfortunately they were closed so we ventured out. We learned our lesson and will not return to Shrub Steppe Smokehouse.
I went with my husband to a work dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the food here so much so that I ordered a second Mac N Cheese, because it was just that good. I don't drink, but they seemed to have a pretty great selection (according to my husband's co-workers). They do a cool trivia night that seemed really fun as well!
Our waitress was really nice, and the outdoor seating was nice under all the shade trees. Nachos are super tasty and huge. Kids loved their meals. We had a nice time!
Thanks Google Maps for a diamond, amazing food, great beer, and staff was very friendly, a must stop for any traveler ! ! !
Great food and wonderful beer. I'm not a huge beer drinker and I like just about every beer they make! Pulled pork and brisket are to die for. Going to be coming back here for years to come!
It is no Rudys BBQ or The Shed BBQ, but it is pretty good. Since I have not had any other bbq in the tri-cities, I cannot say it is the best.
Arguably the best brewery/restaurant in the Tri-Cities. The price is right and the beer and BBQ are top notch. This is a gem tucked away in the midst of wine country.
Great beers. Amazing smoked wings. Fast prompt service. Super friendly. Would recommend to everyone.
Great brews and great service 😎😎😎
Good Porter. Very good nachos. I had the nachos with the chili. Wonderful.
Best bbq lunch. Had the 50/50. They shut down on the 31st of August 2018 so you better hurry@
When i travel for work i look for either a good brewery or good BBQ. when i came across Shrub Steppe i figured i had hit the jackpot and i was right. this place has amazing BBQ and great beer. It will be my regular place to stop when in town for business. i will say this is one of the few BBQ restaurants i have been to that does brisket right. perfect amount of smoke, just the right amount of bark, perfect pull, nothing better than my own. when on the road this is as good as it gets folks. I seriously can not say enough good things about this place.
We are truck drivers delivering near here tomorrow. Looked up a close restaurant and found this one. Awesome place to eat and drink. We had the Nachos. We left with 3/4 of our food. Not only was it a lot it was the best we have had. Lots of meat and cheese. REAL avocado. Staff was very friendly, and very clean. If ever in the area, or not, worth stopping. A lot of beer choices.
Hot weather beers. Not Bad, not exemplary. Go for food, not for beer.
Good food, good beer, terrible service. Came two days in a row and both days it was bad. Several folks left during our stay as no one came to help them. Our drinks needed refilling, and we were sort of forgotten about. Pleasant, but inattentive staff.
Great BBQ, good sides. Nacho platter is huge. Had to go back to work so did not try the beer.
Enjoyed the 50/50 and a Cesar salad. Not bad drive either!
Fat kid candy was great "house mac n' cheese Mixed with real no bean chili. Beer was also good.
I give 4 stars only for the OUTSTANDING service and the wonderful outdoor dining this evening. The prices are too high for the quality of product. The meat was dry. The rub on the chicken was good, but without the sauce, the pork and brisket are dry and not real flavorful. Beer is good, but glasses are over-priced Growlers are well priced though. Sides are outrageously priced - mac N cheese tastes like processed cheese, Cole slaw is simple, yet the price is crazy high! Love the people, hate the prices.
The food is absolutely wonderful. Brisket is to die for. Will be visiting this place lots in the future. Beer is good as well and a very friendly atmosphere.
Good beer good BBQ local business
Very good brisket!.
Nice selection of house beers, and decent barbecue. Large selection of sauces of different styles for you to dress your barbecue as you want to. Service was good, and there's a 10% discount if you go on the B reactor tour.
Great Food, AWESOME staff. I'll be making this a place to eat every time I'm in town!
Awesome beer and food! They do trivia on Wednesdays at 6pm as well! Great service!
GGood brisket, and sauce as hot as you like.
Had the meat sampler plate and a side of slaw. Meats were amazing. Slaw average. Good portion for the price. I'd definitely go back.
Always great food here. A little more expensive than fast food, but it's worth it!
Nothing special in beer nor barbeque. Overpriced for BBQ and sides. Mac and cheese looked and tasted like processed cheese was used. Attentive service.
Bad kitty beer is good, service slower than usual, but good bbq
Great food and great service! One of the brew team was able to answer my questions about the beers and allowed me to see the brewing area.
Simply the best BBQ and micro beers you will find in the tri-city's. This place is a little out of the way but we'll worth the drive.
Good food, great beer! Ask for the brewery tour.
Good service. $6.00 brisket sandwich over priced at $13.00 on cheap bun. Pickles suspect. Porter was flat tasted like root beer. A lesson learned.
We tried the tri-tip sandwich, the meat sampler (pulled pork, juicy brisket and sausage) and the beer sampler (I like bad kitty best). I expected good beer, but the food was wonderful. The meat was both moist and flavorful. Everything was delicious. The service was great. The restaurant was clean. I'm definitely coming back and have recommended it to friends.
Great brisket. Love the sauces.
